Has NRA as sig., but wants FTF banned?
Sorry to bash a fellow (alleged) NRA member, but when he applauds a full out ban on FTF??? WTF......

I don't want to get into a heated discussion. When you buy a new firearm from a dealer you to go through the state and federal checks, EVEN IF you have the CCW permit.
Commenting on your questions:
1) I am not going to go through the trouble of checking criminal records sites if I can have the FFL do the transaction for me.
2) Yes, I believe on what I wrote, and I am sure I am in the correct website, as far as I know this is the opencarry website and people here have at least, or at most, one thing in common - support for the 2nd amendment (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Second_...stitution#Text).
3) I went through the background checks everytime I purchased a firearm, why shouldn't I ask the person I am selling to do the same?
4) If one day the firearm is used for a crime, and I am under investigation because the weapon was orginally sold to me, I WANT TO have a record that I sold and to whom I sold.
All is personal belief and preference. The bottom line is that I should sell it and feel confortable with the process.
I DO BELIEVE on the right to bear a firearm, concealed and / or open carry, I think we should all (law abiding citizen) have a firearm. I do not believe on face to face transactions of firearms, and wish they were regulated, if not banned.
Enough said!I talk jibberoush. pay attention.

Re: Has NRA as sig., but wants FTF banned?
NRA membership isn't directly related to support of gun owners's rights. You'll find many members of the NRA are members just for the NRA's support of hunters' rights, and who care little about any gun that they wouldn't use for hunting, and may in fact be hostile toward non-hunting guns. You'll find many staunch supporters of gun owners' rights, like me, who are not NRA members.
ETA: There's also a lot to be said for semantics. There's a fair number of people who believe that they can support legal gun ownership, while wanting to regulate "illegal" gun ownership, through using gun control schemes that they feel make sense. In other words, banning FTF transaction might not seem anti-gun to this person because he feels that law-abiding citizens aren't affected by bans on FTF transfers, and that only criminals would need to transfer a gun FTF. It's like the majority of people in this country who say they support freedom, but only for their favorite groups of citizens or non-citizens.Last edited by imperialism2024; May 4th, 2009 at 07:27 PM.

He'd just shit himself here. No need to go to an FFL for a face to face transaction between private parties, even for handguns.

thats very incorrect, and all handguns must transfer via a FFL or Sheriffs office in the state of Pennsylvania, by law.
Long guns, no, but any firearm valid for LTCF use may not be sold direct F2F, but MUST go thru a FFL/Sheriff, and the PICS satisfactorily performed brfore the buyer can take possession.
