Default buying a complete lower, advice?

    Hey guys,

I'm looking to buy a complete lower, and had a few questions. I'm looking at one locally, which is a CMMG lower without a stock.

I was wondering how CMMG was in terms of quality and finish compared to the other lowers I'm looking at: RRA, Stag and DPMS.

The CMMG lower is 300. Is that a good price? I only ask because I know RRA and Stag are supposed to be excellent receivers that are affiliated with the same parent company, but haven't heard much about CMMG or the pricing on them.

    Thanks guys!

CMMG is a quality lower but for $300 w/ no stock, I'd like to know what kind of FCG (fire control group) is in it.

$300 seems a little high. Is it complete minus only the stock?

CMMG would be fine. As long as the lower is in spec, your good to go.

Yes, it's complete from CMMG minus stock. Never fired.

My other option is a in-stock RRA lower with NM 2-stage trigger and 6-position stock and Hogue grip for 425 plus shipping. About 150 more all said and done, but I'll be the original purchaser and it has the stock and upgraded grip/trigger.

Seems a little high but in today's market it's not too bad.

most lowers are around $180 now (+ shipping + FFL transfer fee)
LPK ... hard to find but can be had from $75 - $100 + shipping

So, when it's all said and done, with shipping + tax + FFL transfer and your at about $300.

All my AR lowers / parts were purchased before the current "madness" so the prices noted seem insane to me but if that's the current market, so be it.

I can however comment on CMMG. They are excellent quality. But then again, so are RRA, Stag and DPMS so if these can be found cheaper I would not hesitate for a second. Although I personally hate the Stag deer logo - if that matters to you.

I'd go with the CMMG personally.

Yup. Their quality is just as good as anything Stag or DPMS puts out, if not better.

I would have no problem buying on of their rifles. Not to say I'd prefer it over the rest of the brands out there, but they made a good quality product that I think is worth buying.

While we're talking about Lowers, what about LRB? I see stripped lowers for $139 plus shipping & FFL but I've never heard of them. Any reviews?

From their website-"Our new semi auto LRB ARMS M15SA lower receiver is made from aircraft grade 7075-T6 aluminum forgings, same as currently used by the US military. The forgings are CNC machined on the same state of the art equipment which manufactures our M14SA receivers, with tolerances held to one thousandth of an inch. Finish is a hard coat anodize per MIL-A-8625. Our receivers accept all mil-spec internal parts, and are compatable with all other aftermarket mil-spec upper receivers. Made in USA."

LRB built my M14 and I met the guys there a few times so I can not say enough good things about them. A1+ Don't know about their new AR receiver but if LRB is making them you should be very good to go.
