inexpensive home defense question
What are your thoughts for what I could get for myself for the most inexpensive home defense shotgun? I dont have a huge budget, but want something for overall home defense.
Any thoughts, and also ideas on the best gauge for that?"Our government has no power except that granted it by the people."

In order, cheapest on top...
Charles Daly Pardner Pump, 12 ga
Mossberg 500 series, 12 ga
Remington 870, 12 ga.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Re: inexpensive home defense question
Im not a shotgun guy, so please explain what the modified choke is?
And dont some shotguns have a twist choke for quick adjustments?
All I know about em is that some have inserts that can change the pattern.

modified choke is a choke somwhere in between a full choke and improved choke.

You can pick up a brand new 12 gauge NEF for $150-200. It is a New England Firearms pump shotgun, made in China. The finish leaves something to be desired, but they cycle and shoot well. I own an NEF myself.

I'd go with the mossberg. Or see if you can find a good deal on a used shotgun. You might ba ableto find something really nice on the cheap.

Mossy 500 12 gauge. Inexpensive but stone reliable.
Mine is a Mariner and I added a SureFire light.

Re: inexpensive home defense question
I have a Mossberg Persuader. 18inch barrel, pistol grip. holds 8 shells. Some people may frown upon the pistol grip for home defense, but its perfect for me. I know how to use it effectively. And it was cheap - around 250 I think.
If you are in the West Chester area, I will bring it to a range sometime if you want to try it out.
