    Default What's Your Favorite Carry?

My favorite carry gun is by far the HK P7M8. It only has 8+1 capacity for a pistol its size. It's built like a brick. It never fails to feed, fire, and hit what you point at. In my not so humble opinion, it is the best combat handgun ever invented.

But it has one fatal flaw (besides the price). The grip is rather large. This makes concealment a real pain in spite of the fact that it is narrow and technically a medium frame. So often I go to a lesser gun.

The S&W 639 is a +P rated 38 SPL. Five shots. It's not worth carrying extra ammo for it because no one makes a good speed loader that I've found. Besides, unlike with the P7M8, I can't hit anything that isn't near contact range. The DA pull is too heavy for a fast and accurate shot in my hand.

I've pulled my old PPK/S (Interarms made in the USA bought in 1996) out of storage because of a potential Form-1 project. It needed some cleaning up, but it is in good shape. It's chambered in 380 ACP. That round is a tad shy of the 38 SPL. However, it has 7+1 capacity and fits into a pocket just as well if not better than the S&W 639. It is a bit heavier though.

The reason I shelved the PPK/S originally had to do with the bite and frequent stove pipe jams. I've taken the sharp edges off the back. I haven't had a chance to test the effect of that resale reducing mod due to ammo shortage and time. But as soon as I can run 200 rounds through it, I will.

While the grip is considerably smaller, the PPK/S is comfortable in my hand and fits in a pocket. I also like the way it points. If it works out, I'll probably make it my primary.

So what is your favorite carry and why?

Can't say that I have a favorite. I carry a p3at a lot, but what I carry for a primary varries depending on weather, dress, where I am gong and more.
    And always a BUG.

    Favorite carry? Open carry.

Gun-wise, as long as its a revolver, Im happy. Im getting to where my 6" .357 carries very comfortably IWB. Its actually getting easier than OWB, as I dont have to worry about the 'thunk' when I sit down.

    glock 17.

i guess i'm just lucky or something...i don't have any trouble concealing full size guns.

ETA: forgot to answer the "why?" part...

they are among the most reliable, if not the most reliable, semi-auto handguns ever made.

no external safety...just point and shoot.

    extremely simple mechanically.

    i actually like the grip.

i find full size guns to be easier to shoot more accurately faster.

they are impervious to rain, sweat, etc.

and i don't have any trouble concealing it, so why not...
