    Default .45 lead semi wadcutters

I need some 200 grain semi wadcutter lead bullets for indoor IPSC shooting... good sources ?

Also, why are some .45 bullets .451 and others .452... I know it's only a thousandths, but why the diff? I can use both for .45 ACP, right ?

Mastercast has great prices an all lead boolits.

    200gr 45cal .452 dia
    500 for $32.50
    1000 for $61.00

As far as the difference in dia. I've noticed lead is usually bigger than FMJ. Not sure on the technical reason though...

Groove diameters vary from barrel to barrel - .450 to .453. The nominal diameter of a .45 ACP bullet is .451. Jacketed bullets are virtually all .451, though Hornady used to make a JSWC that was .4515.
Some barrels shoot one size better than the other. Finding which your gun shoots better is a matter of testing. It may not be worth it if you are not shooting in competitions.
There is also the matter of leading. Some barrels will pick up lead if the bullet is too small for that barrel.
There's a lot more to say about the subject - bullet hardness, type and depth of rifling - which I will leave to someone else.
My own .45s, two 1911s, both get fed .452s and shoot them quite well.
The .452 is the more common sizing.
Note: the Lyman manual cautions against usin bullet larger than .451. Go figure.

In my experience in reloading 45 ACP,
.451 is generally found as a jacketed bullet.
.452 is generally found for non jacketed lead bullets.

Fully agree with the post on Roger's Better Bullets above. I have been using them since his days of selling them out of the garage in Paoli. Dave_n
