Re: Harrisburg City Council Passes "Report Stolen Gun Law"
they are not trying to get it to hold up in court.
ceasefire's strategy here is to:
1) Get enough municipalities to pass it that they can pressure the state legislature to pass it.
2) Get enough municipalities to pass it to pressure the state legislature to allow municipalities to write their own firearm laws.

Re: Harrisburg City Council Passes "Report Stolen Gun Law"
Grace said the local laws have authority because they concern guns acquired illegally, not those in the possession of law-abiding owners.
This quote makes no sense to me at all (granted it is 544 am and I have been up since 6 pm last night)..but why would someone in posession of an illegal firearm report it as such?? Someone explain his thought process??
not in my understanding
preemption is in the UFA, not in the constitution. They can change the UFA.
Remember there was a bill to do just this last year, along with L&S, and 1 a month.[/
maybe i was thinking no municipality can create a ordinanceNo longer posting

Re: Harrisburg City Council Passes "Report Stolen Gun Law"
What if people own guns for which there are no records and they're stolen?
Technically, those guns don't exist. The real answer is 42.

Re: Harrisburg City Council Passes "Report Stolen Gun Law"
lancaster was trying to pass this as well. the main problem was the wording said it had to be reported within 24 hours of "discovering" the theft. who's to say you dont "discover" it until the police show up. how can it be proven you knew it was stolen?

Re: Harrisburg City Council Passes "Report Stolen Gun Law"
Ok, I understand the frustration over cities passing their own (illegal) gun laws.
But if the law was passed by the state, would you be ok with it?
Why would you not want to report a stolen gun?
I don't think this is a bad law for the state to pass. Am I missing something?
I assume this entire fuss over the fact that these "laws" are illegal?
Yeah, I know that's a lot of questions in one post.
