    Default what do you think

I had a question and in not sure if this is a good place to post or if I posted this
    Question before.

I'm doing a class in fugitive recovery and will have a act235 and permit to carry. I
Is it a good idea when I oc I should place my badge on my belt. I'm not trying to
Act like a cop just don't want problems in public view...

That's what I was thinking. I talk to a guy before who is a
Bounty hunter and he says he does it all the time.

Then one guy says what you said. Just want opinions..thanks

Not saying your wrong , just that Im not so sure about that .

Its my understanding that Bail Agents are quasi officers of the Court , and are considered to be a "type " of Law Enforcement . Bail Agents often dont need warrants to enter and search , etc . What does PA Law say ??

I would think the ADA would need more then just the OCing of a pistol ( LEGAL) and the simultaneous display of a badge related to ones employment ( LEGAL ) to make a case for impersonating a LEO .

Like someone actually passing them self off as one . If a member of the general public merely observes John Doe out in public , going about his daily business , while legally carrying a pistol and a badge , and that citizen makes the leap to presuming " oh that guy must be a cop " ; then IMHO thats the citizens problem for making a wrong assumption , not the OP's fault

P11Shooter had a similar topic of discussion a month or so ago . In that one he asked about OCing while wearing a shirt that said POLICE across it , very similar to the " Raid " Tshirts you see real cops wear all the time .

Personally the TShirt which someone could certainly read from a decent distance away , would seem to me at least to more closely create the impression the wearer is actually a LEO , rather then the wearing of a badge that could literally say anything at all unless you were standing 6 inches from the wearer. Ok great thanks u very much. I just don't want the headache of public wondering why I have a gun.
At least if I were a badge with the gun they might put together. But I don't want problems
With leo for impersonating a leo. But. What you said makes sense.

The badge means squat. Impersonating an officer requires that you attempt to use false indication that you are an LEO in order to coerce or make others comply with your demands.

That said, IMO, the badge is a good idea while performing your job.
Not such a good idea when you're going shopping and decide to OC. People carry guns, no need to explain it, pacify people over it, etc.

In the end its your decision, but for my .02 worth. If it was me I wouldn't consider wearing the badge on my belt unless I was considered to be "on call" all the time and could receive a call at any time to go after a fugitive, otherwise I wouldn't bother. I probably wouldn't bother wearing it even if I was on call all the time.

??????? Who said anything about being uncomfortable about OCing ?? The question was about whether or not carrying a badge next to an OC'd pistol could be construed as " impersonating an officer "
