Great, welcome to the free world, next thing you know you'll be training, and carrying, buying multiple guns until you are broke, hehehehe!

    Yep.

Already changed the Mossberg 500 around since I got it.

Looking for a 10/22 for the wife as she wants to get into plinking now.

I'm thinking about what gun to get...probably start small for building profiency - like I did on motorcycles.

    +1.

    Welcome to the "dark side"!
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Of course my LTCF acceptance card came in the mail today while I am away training.

This took basically 3 weeks as a lone data point. (it seemed much longer... )

Any recommendations on parking when I head over to the sheriff's/courthouse?

Went in this morning. There was no line when I got in the door around 8:45 - plenty of parking available at the outdoor lot next door.

I was in and out in 5 minutes. Funny since it took over an hour to get there due to the wonderful Pittsburgh traffic - I went the back way in from Craig Street - 376 was a parking lot this morning so no way I was going to sit in traffic for 2 hours.

I did find it funny that the sign posted by the Sheriff explaining the background check policy stated "PA Conceal Carry Permit..." when it says right on the ID "License to Carry Firearms". The staff was courteous (a young lady helped me out) and quick.

You don't even have to check in with the building guards as the courtyard entrance on 5th leads right to the Firearms Permit Office.

So, that's kind of interesting. This is a courthouse right...with a separate sheriff's entrance?

So if you use this entrance they should still be required to have security and a firearms storage facility at this entrance.

Can you get from the sheriff's office to the rest of the courthouse without going back outside?

    Just curious.

Actually, it's a separate entrance for ONLY the LTCF office.

So if you use this entrance they should still be required to have security and a firearms storage facility at this entrance.

No, they don't need security there because there is no way to get to any of the court rooms from the LTCF Office - therefore it is not a Courtroom or adjoining corridor. (Ref 18 Pa.C.S. §913(f)) It is a separate outside entrance specifically for the office.
