Anyone carry on campus? I know that it is college regs and not state law. I was wondering if there are metal detectors. Need to visit, I am not a student. Any help would be appreciated.

when i went there back in 05 there where no metal detectors but that might have changed recently.

I don't know of any colleges having metal detectors, it just seems like it would be annoying and take too much time for everyone including staff members.

I visit friends up at Lock Haven Uni, and I've carried, and no metal detectors. Although they have off campus apartments so I don't have to worry about that part, although we've went on campus for food many times and there was nothing there at all.

Even though Lock Haven is REALLY odd, their policy states "Anyone who carries a firearm onto campus property WILL be arrested instantly, this includes LTCF holders."

College policies only apply to students and staff, they have to ask visitors to leave first.

There is nothing LEGAL that they can arrest you for, save Defiant Trespass, and that would require them asking you to leave first.


On a side note, I carry at University of Pittsburgh fairly regularly, visiting a friend of mine... and I've even carried inside a couple buildings. Never had anyone even say anything to me.

Indeed, I mean if they would ask me to leave first, no problem. IF they would just come up and detain me illegally, i'd be really pissed off.

I went to the college today. Thee were absolutely no metal detectors. I didnt bring my firearm because I was not sure what I was in for. If asked to leave I would have stranded the people I was with. I was the driver.LOL

If I knew what the college was like I would have brought my gun like I bring it every place else.

I am assuming all colleges are about the same. you young folks can let me know if that is true.

Some are worse than others. In my experiences private universities seems to contain the largest ratio of transgressors.
