    Sigh.

    This shit irritates me.

Couldn't the robbery victim have aimed a little higher?

Obviously not enough "range" time. Needed more practice.

You know, while it would be prudent to hit center mass, I don't think anyone who hasn't shot someone in the heat of the moment so to speak can really appreciate how difficult it probably is to accurately hit a target under the actual stress of a robbery. I also wonder regardless of the obvious tried and true attitude of shoot to stop the threat how easy it is to take someone's life when shooting anywhere available on an assailant is the best option at the moment for the victim of said robbery or assault.

I'm guessing if I shot once and hit the lower region, for instance the leg or other lower areas of the target and the assailant dropped his/her weapon I would probably count my lucky stars and stop firing.

That's absolutely the correct thing to do. Shoot to stop the threat. If that takes one shot or fifteen. As soon as there is no longer a threat, no more force should be used.

But shooting at the legs is generally a poor choice for an armed attacker, as shooting the legs doesn't generally stop the threat from using a weapon on you. Hence why one should aim for the COM if lethal force is necessary.

Don't get me wrong, I would never aim at the legs, just saying I can see why hitting an assailant in the legs, and/or other less than ideal area might make me stop firing.
