Default New to Pittsburgh area, Question on CCW

Hello all, i am moving to Moon Township outside Pittsburgh this Saturday from NJ. I already have a Florida and NH CCW's that allow me to carry in PA but was wondering on what is involved in applying for my PA license? How is the local PD with CCW's in Allegheny County? thanks for any advice you can give and look forward to being a PA resident.

    welcome to the free world!

you will apply for your LTCF (license to carry firearms...which is what PA calls our CCW permits--because it does more than just allow you to CC) at the allegheny county sheriff's office in downtown pittsburgh.

PA is a shall issue state, so, as long as you are not legally prohibited (which, given that you already have two other state's permits, is likely--that you are not), you will be issued an LTCF.

you will need to come up with two references for the application. i'm not sure off the top of my head if they have to be PA residents.

They do not. I got my LTCF under Mullen and used an out of state reference. They didn't care.

In Northampton co the deputy told the the refrences could be from out of county or out of state. They were never contacted. I've had LTCFs issued in Lackawanna,Lawerence & Northampton co(going back into the 80s) & never had a reference contacted.

Welcome to the free world. I know right where Oradell is....I once dated a woman from Westwood. I work in NJ but glad I have a PA address.

You should attend a meet & greet event or group shoot. They have them from time to time in western PA. There will be a bunch of us in Harrisburg on Tue the 21 for the rally.

Hey, welcome to my neck of the woods neighbor! Here's the link for the permit info...

    http://sheriffalleghenycounty.com/HT...earms_app.html

It says your references need to be PA residents though. You're also going to need PA identification. Actually, hubby and I are picking up ours on Thursday. Mine took about a week and a half to process, hubby's took about three (he's a Canadian citizen), FYI.

Oh...and you might want to check out the group shoot on May 10th...
