Ron Paul has got a brilliant idea
A little-known congressional power could help the federal government keep the Somali pirates in check — and possibly do it for a discount price.
Rep. Ron Paul (R-Texas) and a growing number of national security experts are calling on Congress to consider using letters of marque and reprisal, a power written into the Constitution that allows the United States to hire private citizens to keep international waters safe.
Used heavily during the Revolution and the War of 1812, letters of marque serve as official warrants from the government, allowing privateers to seize or destroy enemies, their loot and their vessels in exchange for bounty money.
The letters also require would-be thrill seekers to post a bond promising to abide by international rules of war.
Let Blackwater (U.S. Training Center) and other organizations go after the Pirates.

good call. I'm sure they are bored anyway... put em on some boats and send em around the oceans. I'm sure they'll have fun
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

Re: Ron Paul has got a brilliant idea
Most of the pirate ships are hijacked vessels from some country. As soon as the rabble has been done away with and the ship liberated, all the countries will start vying to get "their" property back. Even though, they would not do anything themselves.
It reminds me of a streamer on one of the news channels when the SEALS freed Capt. Phillips. The Italian spokesperson said he could not believe the lengths that the US went to free one American. Yet, the Somalies captured and Italian tugboat with ten people on it and the Americans did nothing. Of course, they wanted our SEAL team to whack those pirates so they didn't have to get their hands dirty. Everyone hates the Americans anyway....right?

Re: Ron Paul has got a brilliant idea
I know of a Pittsburgh Doctor with a Yacht down in Miami. He just bought three consecutively numbered Barrett Semi Auto 50 BMG's from a local gun shop for his little boat. I wonder if he would let the ZRT rent the boat on the cheap. We'll supply the Ammo

Why not a Malaccamax Supertanker with a 14-cylinder, 85 Megawatt diesel engine?
I often wonder why crews on these ships don't just arm themselves.
