Default Another Armed Citizen Patrolling Erie

Hello! I'm new here and wanted to say hello and thanks for this great forum. Are there any other outdoor pistol ranges other than the one on Samson Rd?

Sorry about that group shoot question... Should have read a few more posts.

I ran out to Gem City last night. It was quiet, no shooting anywhere. I grabbed a newsletter. Looks like I have to wait till the second Thursday in May to join? If I become a member, can I go there and shoot whenever I want (assuming there's an open range of course), or do I have to schedule a time?

I plan to join, since it is very close to my home. I don't know the answer, but I assume you can, at least the outside ranges.
Go to the website, the board of directors have phone numbers listed. Down at the bottom theres an event calender, quite a bit of shooting going on.

Another outdoor range is the Walnut Creek rifle club. Its on the west side off 26th street just into Fairview. Nice range, friendly and helpful members.

Okay, I've had it with the public range. I need to join a club. Anyone willing to sponser me for Gem City? Here is the story behind why I originally asked about other ranges: About two weeks ago I was at the Sampson Rd. range. I had finished shooting and was walking to my car. A wanna be "gansta" was strutting toward the range with his pistol in his hand. He pointed his pistol at me and said "what you shootin". I made a comment about his muzzle and kept walking. Seconds later he emptied his gun as fast as he could pull the trigger (mind you he did not hang any targets nor pay any attention to the 6 round rule). I couldn't believe when I got to the parking lot that this guy had parked beside a game commission vehicle. I can only assume he didn't notice the man in uniform in the lot who promptly made a bee line for the range. I blew it off thinking what are the odds of running into that kid again. Well I just did. He arrived at the range while I was cleaning up my brass. Again he pointed his muzzle at me. This time it was brief unintentional carelessness as he drew his gun and placed it on the bench. I took what shells I had in hand and left. Same story, he opened fire - no targets, fast as he could. I want to shoot with people who respect guns, the range rules, and the other shooters.

Here's something from a while back.

I didn't need a sponsor for Gem city, just show up at the meetings.
The game land range is NOT a safe place for anybody. Why certain people get away with things there is beyond me.

True, but the next meeting isn't until May 14th. With a sponsor, you don't have to wait for the meeting. I know, I'm impatient but I just got a new gun
