A Day Of Firsts For a Firstimer
Hello Forum,
I purchased my first firearm last friday at Mikes in Levittown.
I looked at many different pistols and decided a Smith & Wesson SW99 .40cal
was the right one for me.
After patiently waiting for a chance to get to the range, I finally got to go yesterday. I was hoping to go during the week when it wasn't going to be as busy, but a rainy saturday was going to have to do.
I brought 2 boxes of ammo, 1 cheap brand, and 1 Amer. Eagle with me just to see the difference if any.
After waiting to get on the range, a lane opened up and I grabbed my ammo, pistol, and 1 target.
I put the paper out about 25 feet and started shooting.
Now mind you this was my first time at a range and the first time I shot a pistol, so don't laugh too hard. I managed to make a nice 14" group
of holes, lol. I tried to hit the paper real tight but I seem to shoot to the left a little bit.
I ended up putting a hundred rds. through it in 20 minutes, and I got to say it was a real fun 20 minutes.
Next time I go back I'm going to take my time a little more and try to be more accurate, I might even take a few more targets with me too.
But all in all I had a good time bonding with my pistol and can't wait to go back again.

Congrats on the new purchase. Haveing some fun is never a bad thing.
I went to the rifle range on Friday. I wanted to shoot at the 25 yd. range. It was loaded. So I sat down at the 100yd. range. My 10/22 was set up for 25yds. So I started to tune it in for 100yds.troll Free. It's all in your mind.

I say keep at it and youll bring those groups in. Possibly if you can get with other more experienced shooters and get some advice from them. That helped me alot when i first started. As for the 14"group, ild say thats still on centermass. which to me is just as important as a bullseye.

Which range did you go to? There are plenty of experienced shooters here who would be happy to give you a hand and some guidance in the right direction.

Thanks
It would be nice to get some good advice, I need some practice though.
Thanks
I went Ready Aim Fire, It's the closest one to me. I'm hoping to go again this week and try a few different things this time.

Congratulations. As others have said, the more you practice the better you will become. In addition, your comfort level will increase. Just use extreme caution since we have all seen some terrible safety skills from folks. As far the 14" group, if you ever need to defend yourself, at least you know that most of the hits will be center of mass.
