    Default Slide Bling Idea

Not sure if this should be here or in pictures, but here is a neat idea picked up from XD Talk...using a hairdryer for heat, and a white crayon, you can fill in the etched areas on your slide for a different look. Here it is on My XD45 Service.

I can't see why it wouldn't work on any gun with etchings...and if you decide you don't like the look, a brush and some Hoppes or Goo-Gone and it's right back to where it started.

explain a little bit more, the process of getting the wax into the etchings... do you just hold the crayon above the gun, and melt it with the hairdryer, and let it drop it, and then clean up the excess?
Guns don't kill people, it's mostly the bullets.

Heat the slide w/ the hairdryer. Up and down/side to side with crayon on etchings. Put in freezer for 10 minutes. Scrape off the excess with cardboard/credit card.

Seen this done with all sorts of colors. Completely removable, and it looks awesome in my opinion.

I imagine if you shot it a lot the wax would melt...I did my AR with hobby paint. Gets hot and stays in place.

how would this process work on a gun that is blued instead of having the melonite finish like the xd pistols? would the heat from the blow dryer hurt the blueing?

Blueing is from a corrosive process that seals the surface and is usually done w/ hot solutions [heating a corrosive increases the corrositivity] so it shouldn't hurt the blueing.

Thats the exact idea I had in mind.
FYI. I believe crayons soften between 105F and 115F...And melt around the 125-135F range. I cant bet my eyebrows on it, but I think the gun may surpass that.

I've read on XD Talk that you need to be careful by not smearing it after shooting, and even if you are careful it will come off over time anyway.

The great part about it is you can change it to whatever color you want almost whenever you want. Great personalization with minimal work involved.

I did my 2 M&P's, mags, and Sig P-226 with celamic Silver header paint, q-tips, and some dirty rag.
Throw it in Oven for 20 min, then let it cool.
    MUCH more durable then Crayons..
