    Default Good carrying pistol

    I need a good daily carry pistol. I like the 40 i have now but its too big to carry everyday (ie summer) i need something that isn't going to cost me an arm and a leg but will be reliable and easy to conceal, preferably a 40. All advice will be appreciated.

    Take a look at the Kahr CW40... I own the CW9 and it is one hell of a gun for the money! Cost is roughly $450.00... if you want the option of night sights, look at the Kahr P40.

    +1 to the cw40 or you could look at the taurus pt-140 or compact 24/7. Both around $400.

    The KAhr isn't bad. But I prefer the K40. The Glocks aren't bad either.

    Does it have to be an auto-loader and does it have to be .40 S&W?
    Cogito, ergo armatus sum.

    Have you thought about how you want to carry? IWB, OWB, pocket?

    IWB or OWB, I'd consider a Glock 27, if you want to stay with .40S&W. Just leave the trigger alone.
    For pocket...well, I carry snubby .38's, although I have ordered an LCP (hard little pistol to get right now). Personally, I think pocket carry is the way for go for most casual carry (take the garbage out, quick trip to the store, things like that).

    If you're an amusement park fan, you really need to consider retention of the gun too.

    If you're looking for a semi-auto, you might want to check out the Bersa Ultra Compacts. They don't advertise, so the prices are quite low. I own a Bersa UC 9mm, and paid under $350 for it. A friend just picked up the UC 45 for around $400 with 2 mags included. They also make a UC40, which seems to be your caliber of choice.

    I used to track how many rounds I ran through the UC9, but lost count at around 2500 or so (I stopped counting some time last year). I've only ever had one misfeed, and no mechanical trouble. So I would vouch for the pistol's reliability (as would many other Bersa owners).

    Bersas are all ambidextrous (good for us lefties - no mods). They have a thumb safety/decocker, so they are DA / SA. Specs are as follows:

    9mm:
    Barrel = 3.25", total length = 6.53", width = 1.46", weight = 23 oz., holds 13+1 (double-stack).

    .45:
    Barrel = 3.6", total length = 6.81", width = 1.46", weight = 27oz., holds 7+1

    I believe the specs for the .40 are the same as those for the 9mm (except capacity, which I believe is 10+1 for the .40).

    Bersas are, I believe, a hidden gem. Price and reliability.
