Looking for a spot to hike where I can carry
Okay, so the wife has been bugging me for a while to take her and the dog hiking...and I, being the well trained husband that I am, am certainly willing to go. I like hiking, so I think it would be fun. I know there are threads saying where you can and can't carry (state parks, national parks, state forests), but I'm looking for some recommendations for places somewhere in Lackawanna county or the surrounding area ,where me, the wife, and the dog can hike a few miles and I can carry . I do have an LTCF, and will go CC (though I am certainly willing to OC for comfort's sake if the location permits it).
So...whatcha got?"Stupidity needs to be painful..."

Re: Looking for a spot to hike where I can carry
I'm interested in this too, but more so the general laws on the Appalachian Trail and other places.
A lot of my hiking/camping is done around my area, where firearms are very common so when I would throw a revolver in the pack and go out I didn't really think twice. I couldn't even tell you who owned a lot of the land around here, but it is populated by hikers/off roaders...coal land.
Although there are many instances where I hike on State Game Land(the AT runs across that) I haven't carried on there but I assume it is legal in respect to the LTCF laws.

the only places you can't carry on hikes these days in PA are national parks. state parks and state forests are A-OK. i'm not sure about open carry, but i know concealed is okay.

Re: Looking for a spot to hike where I can carry
I've done a little bit of digging around on them internets, and a spot that is close by that allows dogs is the Choke Creek Nature Trail Loop. 5 miles, well maintained, and is only about 10 or 15 miles away. The site I'm looking at says it's a part of PA State Forest, so CC is the way to go.

Re: Looking for a spot to hike where I can carry
So, for clarification;
OC/CC ok in State Forests.
CC only in State Parks.
No carry in National parks.
Or did I miss something?

Lots of trails in Tobyhanna and Gouldsboro state parks. Likewise in Promised land state park.
Trails at Egypt Meadows and Bruce Lake just north of Promised Land on SR 390. Also, if you head out to along SR 402 in Pike Co. there is plenty of trails throughout the Delaware State Forest.
All of which is within 1/2 hour from you and it's all DCNR property so carry is legal.Sed ego sum homo indomitus
