MLB Pitcher killed by DUI Driver

Absolutely tragic. 100% preventable. 100% Irresponsibility on the part of the driver.
What I want to know is, the gun control debate is never ending, with anti-gunners saying that GUNS are the problem, GUNS are the reason for loss of life, if we could just get rid of or ban the GUNS, then LIVES WOULD BE SAVED.
Well what about this? How many more people are killed every single year by ALCOHOL and alcohol-related crimes and accidents than by gunfire? I don't know the statistics, but I do know its immensely more!
I'm not suggesting a ban on alcohol. The USA tried that and it failed miserably. What I'm asking is, if the real point of gun control is to SAVE LIVES, then why doesn't SAVING LIVES extend into other more deadly instances? Booze has destroyed more lives, more families, than guns 100 times over.
In the gun control debate, the product is the problem, and the responsibility of the shooter is ignored. In alcohol, the product is accepted as part of society, and the drinker bears the responsibility. Why is this hypocrisy allowed to stand? Why isn't personal responsibility distributed equally?
I just got out of class here at Pitt in Oakland, Pittsburgh. Thousands of police outside. What a terrible tragedy hoisted upon this great city by ONE MAN and HIS CHOICES. My condolences once again to the families of the officers, the rest of the Pittsburgh PD, and the Steel City.Pittsburgh, PA
I also am a huge metalhead. PM if you wanna talk music.

And it is across the board. Far more officers are killed in car crashes most years than die by gunfire.
