Just 53% Say Capitalism Better Than Socialism
    Thursday, April 09, 2009

Only 53% of American adults believe capitalism is better than socialism.

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 20% disagree and say socialism is better. Twenty-seven percent (27%) are not sure which is better.

Adults under 30 are essentially evenly divided: 37% prefer capitalism, 33% socialism, and 30% are undecided. Thirty-somethings are a bit more supportive of the free-enterprise approach with 49% for capitalism and 26% for socialism. Adults over 40 strongly favor capitalism, and just 13% of those older Americans believe socialism is better.

Investors by a 5-to-1 margin choose capitalism. As for those who do not invest, 40% say capitalism is better while 25% prefer socialism.

There is a partisan gap as well. Republicans - by an 11-to-1 margin - favor capitalism. Democrats are much more closely divided: Just 39% say capitalism is better while 30% prefer socialism. As for those not affiliated with either major political party, 48% say capitalism is best, and 21% opt for socialism.

And I guarantee that most of the people they asked probably don't really even know the difference between the two.

Why is it I've never received a call for one of these polls? I'd like to see the breakdown of how many conservatives and liberals were polled. Also, any "Republican" claiming to favor Socialism, lied about their party affiliation.

I agree, most people don't even know the difference.

So, instead of asking which is better (since they don't know what either is) ask them these questions and see how they respond.

If you're asking college students ask them if they got an A in class and another student got a C in class if they thought it would be ok to give them both a B to even things out. I'm sure the A student would be real happy with that idea.

If you're asking a working adult, ask them if their job paid them 60K per year and another co-worker only made 30k per year if the guy making 60k would mind only making 45k so the guy only getting 30k could make 45k too. It's the fair thing to do after all.

What's incredible about this is that history has proven time and time again that socialism does not work... If I'm doing a great job producing a quality product and getting paid the same as some jerk-off who doesn't give a crap...then what reason do I have to want to excel?
Sure the idea of socialism is a warm and fuzzy one, but until people can rid themselves of greed, laziness, and jealousy...It just won't work.
Government is not reason, it is not eloquence - it is force! Like fire it is a dangerous servant and a fearful master. Never for a moment should it be left to irresponsible action. - George Washington

I just read this on Drudge and cannot believe those numbers. The young people are indoctrinated with this crap in school, the old people are scared into it by the AARP and other organizations. Mediocrity is bred into society, so people no longer care about being the best that they can be.

Between the 30 somethings, it split nearly 30% for, 30% against and 30% that doesn't have a freakin clue....it does not bode well.

The problem is that all the O lovers think that the world is a warm, fuzzy place.

The problem with that is that most thing that are warm and fuzzy also have large, sharp teeth and bad dispositions,
