Browser help!!!
Ok.... here's my problem. Whenever I use ANY search engine, once i click on a link i get redirected to a different page and have to hit "back" to get to the page i was intending to go to. I have IE8 but this was happening before I upgraded. I was hoping that might help, but of course my non computer literate azz was wrong!! lol. I have my spyware and antivirus software up to date and scan but no dice. I have downloaded countless "tools" to remove browser hijacks and redirects.... nodda.....
Any help? please?~De-Animating the undead since '08~

Re: Browser help!!!
Try Mozilla Firefox, I had so many problems with IE, that I took it off all my computers and now have been using Mozilla for over a year w/o any issues.

Re: Browser help!!!
Hey Spabula. I am actually dealing with something similar. I use Firefox, and my Google searches get redirected, but only when I type search terms into the search bar or address bar! (In Firefox, the search bar is in upper right, IE I thinks its upper left) It does not happen when I go to Google.com and type a search directly into the page. This tells me it may be a java exploit....
I too have dl'd a ton of stuff:
Spybot
Malwarebytes
SuperAntiSpyware
GooredLog
What I would ask of you, considering what PAPat asked, is some specifics:
-Does the reroute happen from a search bar/ address bar, or also on Google or Yahoo or MSN home pages?
-Did you recently have to re-input all of your passcodes?
-Did you recently have a JAVA update, or an IE update?
These were all things that happened to me, cept it was a Firefox update.
When you search, try to use the term "IE8 google search reroute"Last edited by OneLungMcClung; April 7th, 2009 at 07:35 PM.

Re: Browser help!!!
What Rich said ... you have a virus or spyware that has infected IE.
First things first .. stop using that POS Microsoft product!
Download Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera
People just don't realize how much they are 'hanging their ass out the window' by using Internet Explorer or Outlook Express ... they are the 'swiss cheese' of security holes ... say no and save yourself a lot of headaches!

Yep, there are many types of browser hijacks. It's going to be a process of elimination.
You *may* be able to completely remove IE and re-install. That worked once for me a while back on a friends comp._________________________________________

Re: Browser help!!!
I agree with this. This seems to be the fix that works, regardless of browser, just make sure you save your bookmarks, and know all your passcodes cause all those filthy little cookies are gonna get trashed.
I am probably going to beat on this with a rock for a while then give up and reinstall FF.NEED should never enter into a discussion about RIGHTS

Re: Browser help!!!
I agree with ditching IE. For a number of reasons... but there are hikacks for FF too. Seems like not as many as IE though. Opera would be highly recommended. I like it and is cleaner/less resources than FF on my windows machines.

Re: Browser help!!!
Ehh this is not as easy as other browsers, especially since they said they weren't that good with computers ... removing IE requires removing a windblows component and can really foul things up.
Download this program (the free version) install it and run a check on the machine. This things finds EVERYTHING and has helped me save more clients machines than I can count!
