Re: What Generation
Not with out a picture or a physical description. No rail out front, gen 2, rail out front, gen 3.

Re: What Generation
i don't think there were any gen 1 G26's, so if you have no rail (and no finger grooves), you have a gen 2.
gen 1 and 2 did not have rails or finger grooves. gen 3 had rails and finger grooves (and now the new gen 4 does as well).
(you can tell the difference between gen 1 and gen 2 by the texture on the grip...but i don't think that matters to you since you are talking about a g26 and i am pretty sure they switched to gen 2 before they started making the g26.)F*S=k

Re: What Generation
doh! yeah, good point...
er, um, ok...
OP, forget about what i said about the rails and just look for the finger grooves. if it has them it is 3rd gen (unless you bought it like yesterday, then i think it could be 4th gen...though i'm not really sure if they have released an 4th gen subcompacts yet). if it does not have them, it is 2nd gen.F*S=k

Re: What Generation
They all have finger grooves and no rails. There's really only one generation of G26.
Removed NRA Life Member pic. LaPierre and Chris Cox are ruining NRA.

Re: What Generation
I'm pretty sure the only difference is that the 1st generation g26 (came out with the 2nd gen g17,19etc.) does not have the loaded chamber indicator on the extractor. The 2nd generation g26 (came out with 3rd generation g17,19 etc.) has a loaded chamber indicator. Otherwise no visible difference.

Re: What Generation
There is also a difference in the sheen of the finish though I do not know how/when or why this changed. I prefer the appearance and texture of the old finish though it's my understanding that it is inferior to the current finish on the guns which feels slicker to me. Any input from anyone in the know?
