    Default Just joined the NRA

I know some people aren't happy with the NRA. But I personally feel the need to do something more to support the RKBA. Since I recently got a paid subscription to this site, I figured I've got no excuses not to be an NRA member. I'm no longer as poor of a college student as I once was. I really felt that it was time that I start speaking with my wallet and not just my mouth.

Down the road sometime, after I graduate, hopefully I'll be able to afford a lifetime membership. I'm just gonna start with my $35 1 year membership for now.

I was tired of hearing that statement: "4 million gun owners carrying the weight of the other 76 million" and knowing that I was one of those 76 million.

+1 NRA is running a special on life membership. They do take payments.

I understand if it is not an option. I remember the days of peanut butter, Raman noodles and mac&cheese.

Actually, I noticed that when purchasing my membership and contemplated it for awhile. But if I'm going to get my lifetime membership, I'd rather it be sooner than 10 years down the road (40 quarterly payments of $25).

Oddly enough, it was your post here: http://forum.pafoa.org/national-11/5...tml#post677844 that gave me the kick in the ass to get the membership. Thanks unclejumbo!

I also joined recently, although I had another catalyst...

I also don't agree with everything the NRA does, but right now they are the biggest pull we've got.

And I'm a broke college student also, which is why I had waited so long.

Although I can't speak for Derek, I do know that some gun clubs/ranges require NRA membership to become a member, this is why I joined the NRA, but I never did become a member of the club I was interested in.

    Bolded by me

You do realize there isnt any " waiting " for your membership or goodies when you do the LifeTime Membership on installments right ??

My cousin went this route , got his card and member information/stuff , within a couple weeks , then started getting the magazines the next scheduled month . Plus he found out the quarterly payment was the minimum , he was told he could always pay off the balance , or a significant chunck of it anytime he wanted ( Tax Refund , Work Bonus , Over time , etc ) . Just something to consider , maybe they'll let you convert the one year to a Life one on the EPL program .

Not personal, a member here offered me a free year membership.

I was going to join when I had some extra cash (this summer) but someone's generosity allowed me to join a little earlier.

I am with you on the poor college student, haha
But I agree, they suck at doing somethings, but we need them.

The NRA is giving away free 1-year memberships right now.
