MANHEIM TOWNSHIP, Pa. -- A Lancaster County man was assaulted and robbed Tuesday in a bank parking lot in Manheim Township.

Two men punched the 23-year-old Mountville man, took $60 cash and his cell phone after he left the Citizen's Bank on Lititz Pike, police said.

The robbers are described as Hispanic or light-skinned black men in their mid-20s.

They were last seen running through the parking lot of the Golden Triangle Shopping Center.

    Your title should say...

Why you should carry EVERYWHERE. (you can legally)

Shooting either or both of those creeps would have cost way more than 60.00$ & a the cost of a cell phone. I would likely not have drawn my gun in this situation. It probably would have been an interesting brawl though.....elbows,backfists,side & back kicks, palm heels, throws, take downs....ect...no gloves..no mat.

    Our justice system sucks.

Carrying everywhere it's legal to do so is however a good idea. This could have been worse. I hope the cops get those 2 scumbags. They risked robbery & assault charges/convictions to get 60 bucks & a phone....what morons....once again...too stupid to even be good criminals. These 2 asshats would make more money working at Walmart.

    reverserboy,

my point view though, is that this could have went badly. They were ballsy to do it in the daytime hours, who knows what else they could have done.

We know that after the fact.
But the story could have just as easily read "Two men punched and knocked out the 23-year-old Mountville man, then beat him to death."

If I'm going to draw and shoot at someone, it'll be to protect my well being, not the stuff in my pockets.

The thread title is good advice, but one problem with the article...

Remember folks, if you need to describe someone, "Hispanic" is an ethnicity, not a race. Someone "Hispanic" could be anywhere from fair-skinned to very dark-skinned.

They could have done anything they wanted to as the victim did not resist.

Both of you make good points.

If they had a weapon, they likely would have showed/used it right from the beginning. I don't believe this crime was planned or thought out, altough I could be wrong. I doubt these 2 nitwit perps are big on planning. I'm guessing this was a crime of opportunity commited by 2 losers.....just a guess.

Because there were 2 attackers & he was assaulted, the defender would likely have been OK shooting but we're talking serious $$$. I know this sounds stupid.....but I would rather have some good injuries if I ever have to shoot an unarmed person. I feel this would better show in court that I was in fear of my life or SERIOUS bodily harm. And,what better way to get those injuries than fight back.

And if I was going to get trounced bad...then a gun can be brought to bear. This way,in court,I tried less than deadly force before shooting.

And...there's a decent chance that these 2 lowlifes would have disengaged if the victim put up a substantial fight. We read about this quite a bit.
I would also wager the victim was not aware of his surroundings & didn't look like he could/would offer resistance. A car key jabbed in someone's throat will sometimes make them break off an assault as would a good stiff palm to the jaw or nose. The strike must have enough power to shock or injure the attacker.

I'm not saying what I would likely do is the right thing for everyone. We're all different.

If I'm going to draw and shoot at someone, it'll be to protect my well being, not the stuff in my pockets.
I'm not a lawyer but that would a better way to word it than saying you shot someone to keep possession of a cell phone.
I see where you're coming from.

The problem with our justice system is that we have to even discuss whether this situation would be a justified shooting... Those shitbags deserve to be shot, plain and simple. (not saying I would have, but in a perfect world, this situation would be justifiable IMO)
