Pearl Harbor Vet Dies
Yesterday the last Centre County Pearl Harbor veteran died at age 86. While there are still many WWII vets in Centre County (my Dads' one) there are no more Pearl Harbor vets here. It was reported that there are only about 4600 Pearl Harbor vets alive in the US at this time. These are the vets that were actually serving at Pearl when it was attacked. May God bless his soul as he rejoins his shipmates. Where would we be without the greatest generation?

Ron and anyone else who care for a read here is a link to the article that was in the CDT today about him. He was a family friends grandfather. This truely is a loss to the county.

Amen to them being the greatest generation. May their memory live on forever. Its funny to think about but the symbol of that generation the M1 Garand has lived in many cases longer than they have. Long live that rifle too...

Re: Pearl Harbor Vet Dies
I know that Canada has approved a state funeral for the last veteran of WWI. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/story/2006/...e-funeral.html
I would hope that this country do the same.
BTW as of last November he was still alive and kicking http://www.cbc.ca/news/background/re...cock-john.html
That generation doesn't give up easily do they?
