Default Out of State resident wanting to shoot in PA

hey guys, i'm new to the forum and was referred by a friend who frequently posts. I'm a Delaware resident but am frequently in Pennsylvania since I work and go to school here. I was looking for PA/DE laws concerning going to a range in PA? Am I legally allowed to have a firearm in my vehicle and cross the state lines solely for the purpose of going straight to the range (no stops in between)?

To actually give you a helpful answer, there are some good resources on handgunlaw.us. Pa is very easy to get a License to carry firearms. If you do not yet have a delaware permit, get one. After getting the DE you can then drop the $30 and get a Pa LTCF. This is about the easiest safest way to travel between states with a firearm.

This is all handgun related, I am not a long gun guy. But from what I know if its unloaded with ammo in a separate container and both are locked, you will be fine. I'm sure someone will give more detailed info.

    Welcome to the group.

It wasn't helpful to point him to the correct forum instead of leaving him in a forum that typically gets a post once a month?

Dont worry about it, you're in the right forum. The Q&A has been merged with the general forum.

You do not need a license or anything else in order to go to the range.

Just make sure your firearms are unloaded.

Nope. PA law clearly states that as long as you are going to an exempted place (in this case a range) and the firearm is unloaded (meaning no round in the chamber AND magazine separate from the gun) you are cool.
