    Default Upgrade Time

Just finished updating my old Dillon RL-450 to a RL-550. Ordered the frame change kit last week, and changed out the frame on it this morning. Still have some re-setting of my dies to do (.38 Spl), but now I have the advantage of changeable tool heads (much easier to change out calibers now). Still need to pick up one of their deluxe quick change assembly kits so I can set up a tool head for .45ACP.

Overall, it's a pretty easy upgrade to do, but messy, due to the lubrication grease on the pivot points. Nice part about it, now I have full factory warranty coverage on my press.

The RL-450 is not covered under Dillon's warranty, as the RL-550 replaced it, and it's been out of production for many years now. Although the rest of my press was already upgraded (Auto Prime, Auto Eject, Auto Powder Measure), the frame was still the 450 frame, and thus, the press was still a RL-450. Now, it's a full RL-550, and is under their full warranty.

The 450 I have has had a part or two replaced under the warranty, which is why I asked.
