Obama; Savior of Constitutional . . . wait a sec!
I thought Obama was going to ride in on his white (oh shit! I am not being racist here, it's just that the hero always rides a white horse) horse and restore all the Constitutional Rights that Bush trampled and protect the rest since he was this big-time Constitutional scholar. Turns out that's a bunch of bullshit (seems I have said that a lot today ).

ARG!
I'll say the same thing I said when Bush did this..
Fine, I understand how you need to keep intellegence things secret. However, their are ways to ensure that people keep what they know secret. Non-disclosure agreements, hell you can even tell the defendants to find a lawyer who can pass a security clearance and a is a natural born citizen. Do what you have to so you the defendants have proper legal council, but take every precaution to ensure protections of assets.
You know.. Use your imagination?
And threaten to castrate a lawyer who reveals said intellegence sources to the public.
This sort of problem is going to be a constant issue now. They need to come up with some sort of system that protects both intellegence assets, and constitutional protections for US citizens. One that is Bi-Partisian and with clear and detailed guidelines.

it was bs when he said it (if he did). Obama believes and has stated that the Constitution is a document of negative rights. He sees it as an obstacle.

Devil's advocate on this. The FISA bill and the Patriot Act were pretty bi-partisan.
Thomas, I agree with Obama seeing the Constitution as a charter of negative rights meaning it is just an obstacle. I have been saying that for months and it pisses me the hell off. My point was more that the masses thought that Obama would fix all the wrongs with the world and that he WOULD reverse all the rights Bush (well Congress and the Senate all had a hand in it too from both sides of the isle) trampled on.

Did anybody ever believe that Obama would restore rights trampled by the Bush administration? Was anyone that naive? Nonsense. No government willingly gives up powers it has assumed. Anywhere, ever.

Why do I get the feeling that Barry Hussein isn't going to get a 2nd term? He has already broken dozens of campaign promises (which they all do, just not quite as rapidly as Barry) his tax cuts for the middle class are already in negotiations of being revoked in 2010, he is taking the Bush stance in a whole lot of ways. I'm guessing people will be sick of him a lot quicker than they were of Bush.
Hell his approval ratings are already down to 50% from somewhere around 75%+. And he has only been in office less than 3 months.

Yes people did believe it. Because Obama blasted Bush for EVERYFUCKINGTHING he did and claimed McCain was Bush III (rather than being Obama-lite) people thought he would repeal the Patriot Act, be completely transparent in national security dealings, and somehow honor the Constitution. I'm not dispariging anyone on this board who supports Obama, but I know some of them thought this way. Sadly it appears they were wrong.
