    Default Military 1911 Colt Collection

I have always enjoyed the 1911 Colt. Two are shooters and one is collector. Please share your collection and any stories behind them!

I put up a couple my 1911's. They are not all military pieces; they are all Colt 1911's

    Left to right:
Officers Model .,45 ACP My main carry piece.
    Enhanced Lightweight Commander .45 ACP
Combat Commander Sereis 70 .38 Super. My carry piece when I was flying. This pistol took an unexpected swim call with me in the Gulf Of Tonkin many years ago.
Government Model .45 ACP Built by Army armorers and sold at Camp perry. Bought this pistol in 1964 and have never shot it. BTW cost me $25.00 then

    Couple more of them:

    From the left:
Government Model .45 ACP. This pistol was carried by my cousin at the Battle Of The Bulge. After the War he had the pistol rebuilt by 4th Corp armorers for his use on the 4th Corp pistol team. I swaaped him a Colt Cobra for it in the early 60's. I sent the pistol to Shockey for a total rebuild. it is now my hardball target pistol.

two springfield gi models...one is from the very first batch of them. picked it up right when they came out.
    it's sweet shooting pistol.
the other i picked up just two have second.
the other is a usgi colt from late '42. all correct short of the mag. also a super shooter, but i do not take it out often....don't want to mess the finish up.

The holster came with the two top colts. Purchased the set from a local private dealer. It has the officers name on the inside. One of the top colts is a commercial, pretty good shape. The one on the right has been worked on and has lost its original value. Both are shooters. The bottom colt is all original and serial numbers say it was built in 1918. My dad got it from a customer in the sixties. I can remember holding it when I was a little kid. My favorite gun category is WWII. I have an M1 Garand, strictly shooter but a rocking gun. Also have an M1A Carbine, pre WW11, all original. Got it from a customer. He said he traded a duck boat for the gun during the war.

the m1a is the name SAinc has given to it's semi auto version of the m14.

do you perhaps mean m1a1? which would be the folding stock version of the m1 carbine.
reguardless, there are no pre war samples....unless by war you mean the korean war.
