Why have an Income Tax?
If the government can just print, or make a computer entry for money, why then tax us?

Re: Why have an Income Tax?
Because you cannot have taxation without representation if they don't tax you.
You see, they are not truly representing us when they consistantly do what is unpopular with the people.
They will never repeal the income tax. It should have ended after the war, but once the elephant's nose was under the tent we were doomed to unconstitutional taxation forever.
Why won't they end it? Because money is like crack to our government. It defines them, gets them re-elected, and it gives them power over you and I.
One thing is for sure: We are all part of a fictitious monetary system that does not have a bright future. Prepare yourselves for the worst.

Re: Why have an Income Tax?
The income tax finally did hit the people in a big way only in 1942, and then only because we were of course in the middle of the war Franklin Roosevelt had finally succeeded in tricking us into by arranging Pearl Harbor.

Re: Why have an Income Tax?
Lest we forget...
Let's look at a very simple economy.
You rep the economy of OUR nation.
You have in your possession 100 OUR bucks.
You can purchase many things with 100 OUR bucks (virtually the entire economy).
I, as the OUR gov't, print up 1,000,000 OUR bucks to cover deficits and spending et al.
What now, pray tell, is the value of your 100 OUR bucks to the new 1,000,000 OUR bucks now in circulation? Can't buy as much goods, now, can you? Your influence in OUR national economy has diminished. There are now a million OUR bucks that you must compete against in the marketplace. It is you. You have all the weapons that you need. Now fight. --Sucker Punch

Are we doing movie quotes? How about this Tom Cruise gem from The Color of Money?
"It’s like a nightmare, isn’t it? It just keeps getting worse and worse, doesn’t it?"

Re: Why have an Income Tax?
Its simple really...
we pay taxes because the government is unable to create wealth, its only service to us is to CONSUME our own wealth.
I don't care if you give me "free roads", or "free education" when the socialized cost of it is literally 100x times what the free market could provide.==============
“If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquillity of servitude than the animating contest of freedom, — go from us in peace. We ask not your counsels or arms. Crouch down and lick the hands which feed you. May your chains sit lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen!”
~Samuel Adams
"I would rather be exposed to the inconveniences attending too much liberty than to those attending too small a degree of it."
~Thomas Jefferson, 1791
