Removing scratches from stainless pistols
My son just gave me his S & W 624 to sell for him and it has some minor scratches on it ..... is there an easy way to remove these without the use of a buffing wheel (don't own one any more) ... suggestions?

You might try useing some 000 or 0000 stainless steel wool and be real careful.

works wonders on powder residue and other minor blemishes; but for scratches,it depends on how deep they are

Re: Removing scratches from stainless pistols
Thanks, someone pointed me over to the S & W forum, they have some great tips on getting them out (also found out I need to call S & W tomorrow to make sure this gun isn't included in the recall )

i need to remove some scratches from my colt 1911 including an idiot mark the previous owner left for me but i'm too scared i'll mess it up.
Go head, skin it. Skin that smoke wagon and see what happens.

Re: Removing scratches from stainless pistols
I put a few significant scratches on the barrel (a few inches below the muzzle) of my AR's stainless barrel (hitting the concrete while prone). Sure pissed me off. Anyways, took a green Scotchgard pad and rubbed in the direction of the grain, and to my complete surprise, it was good as new.

Re: Removing scratches from stainless pistols
Then green cleaning pads will definitely work and a little bit of Crest tooth paste will speed up the process
