    Default Reaction Target Questions

I call them "reaction targets," but I'm not sure if that's the right term. I'm interested in learning about targets that pop out, some of which have Identify Friend or Foe pictures on them. I have googled but to no avail.

The big question is: How do they work? I would like to make my own (if it isn't too technical), so are there diagrams online? Are there any hobbyists that have made their own? So far, the only hit I've had was through YouTube who did it with an iPhone ("Airsoft Target Range: Arduino + ioBridge").

    Thanks!

We've done some simple ones at group shoots by propping a 2X4 under a steel target stand with a cable that runs to a steel target.

Shoot the steel target and it falls down pulling the cable, pulling the board out from under the target stand and causing the target to pop up from behind cover.

Sounds complicated, but it's simple and effective.

Uh, maybe. That was the haloween shoot. I have pics of me looking sexy, but I'm sure there's pics of the "zombie" targets somewhere.

    Let me do some digging.

Seriously, Roland or Lycanthrope or one of those guys probably have a simple solution for something like this.

Until then, enjoy the picture of Emptymag

I'll send links to a few people.

Sorry about the slow response. I'm sure there's a bunch of simple ways you could do it.

Most people buy them or have a welder around to make them.

The plans are out there but you're likely using the wrong terms.

    Try:
    Swinger target
    Clamshell target
    Drop-turner target

Pretty good info here on how to build several forms of movers and turners:

Typically you hide the target behind a prop and have it activated by a metal popper (or you could pull a cord)

Sounds to me like he is looking to set up something like the 'combat' senario that Dirty Harry goes through in 'Magnum Force'.

Sorry but I have no idea where you could get a setup like this or instructions to make one. Best of luck.
