PA/OH Reciprocity
Hello all. First post, but I like your site. I'm sure you've all discussed it, but I haven't seen it. So sorry if I'm beating a dead horse.
But what's the deal with PA/OH reciprocity? Both sates are Shall Issue states, and both states have a long list reciprocity states. In fact, they both honor almost the exact same list of other states licenses. Yet, they won't honor each others and they share a border. I don't follow gun laws as closely as I should, so I don't even know if this has been tried and shot down, or what. I never looked it up before because I don't go to OH often. Now I have a job that will take me into OH from time to time. I'm really shocked that the 2 states won't honor each others CCW's but they honor so many other states.

Re: PA/OH Reciprocity
Ohio requires training, and that seems to be one of the bigger determining factors. Not saying its the only reason, but could be a big one.
You can get a Utah, or FL permit and carry in OH with it.

Re: PA/OH Reciprocity
Oh, I didn't realize that. So I can just apply for a Utah or Florida license on-line and they issue non-resident licenses? I'll look into that. Thanks!

Re: PA/OH Reciprocity
Not quite, here's what you need to do;
UTAH:
http://www.des.utah.gov/bci/concealedfirearms.html
FLORIDA:
http://licgweb.doacs.state.fl.us/weapons/index.html
Personally I have the Utah CWP, in the long run it's cheaper and gives you a couple more states than the Florida permit because some states require you be a resident of the state that issued the license/permit.
Here's a good site to look at for reciprocity:

Good Luck.

Re: PA/OH Reciprocity
Well, if I'm reading the links correctly, it looks like I have to apply in person. I'm not making a special trip out to Utah for that, so this will all have to wait until next time I'm on that side of the country.
Thanks for the help gentlemen.
