Re: Price of a Rock River Arms AR15 Stripped Lower Receiver
I would think under 200 in stock is a good price in this market. 150 or lower might be a great price.

Seen Rock River stripped lowers for $212 at a local shop.

Re: Price of a Rock River Arms AR15 Stripped Lower Receiver
Ah, so $170 is a pretty good price. OK.
Now, I'm planning on buying 2. I'm living in the states for the next few weeks to a month. My idea is to buy two lowers to get my foot in the AR world. In the case of a ban, lowers will be impossible to get but as I understand it, uppers and parts will still be available.
When I go back to Japan I can buy uppers and parts until I get back to put them back together.
Here's a question. If there is a ban, can individuals sell their ARs or would it be illegal to sell any banned item?
Thanks

Hmm. So in the last ban people were able to sell their banned weapons. How much did that drive the price up? a ball park guess is fine
What do you think about me buying these lowers? Safe idea? unsure? What would you do if you had a limited budget but wanted to get into the AR world?

Re: Price of a Rock River Arms AR15 Stripped Lower Receiver
IIRC; The initial shell shock of the 89-ban drove prices up dramatically based on what the item was; the everywhere-to-be-found SKS was still reasonable; the FALs, Sterlings, FNCs, Valmets, H&Ks, et al went way up or completely dissappeared into collectors hands - like the Sterlings and FAMAS's. The domestic guns went up, but not the skyrocket that many of the foreign guns did, as the only things really affected on say an AR was the flashider and the decorative bayo lugs.
The biggie was the hi-cap mags.
Luckily, domestic producers of complete guns - like DSA's FAL - and of receivers and small parts stepped in, and the practice of building from kits and 922'ing the otherwise ban-configured guns started, and then really took off once the 94 ban ended.
Thanks to the 94 sunset and 922-parts swaps, you can pretty much duplicate almost anything that dissappeared in 89, save maybe the FAMAS and the Sterlings (which are rumored to be in prototype assembly at Century Arms).
For that reason, I seen no value in paying the outrageous premium for pre-89 ban AKs and ARs.
Likely the worse that may happen to you is that if the ban is like the 94 ban - can't build a banned-configure-gun; you won't be able to build your lowers into realistic M4rgerys, but instead will have to live with muzzle brakes and no lugs.

Re: Price of a Rock River Arms AR15 Stripped Lower Receiver
So, in 89 the ban drove the import prices up. Now you can get (more or less) replicas. But you wouldnt buy aks or ars now... why?
Worst case for me is I cant put the banned items on. What about the collapsible stock (if it's banned)? Worst case scenario is that I have all of this stuff and a fully functional ar15 so if SHTF I can just slap the banned stuff on. So, Should I buy 1 stripped lower or 2?
