    Default EAA Zastava EZ-9

I couldn't find a thread on this so I figured I'd start a new one to ask. Does anyone here have experience with the EZ-9? I've read it's basically a poor mans Sig but is of good quality and a decent price. I may look into one of these instead of a Sig if they are worth it.

I don't have an EZ 9, but I do have what Zastava calls a CZ 999 Skorpion that was imported as the Charles Daly ZDA (I bought it used). I have put several hundred rounds through this pistol with no failures. I've been impressed with the basic engineering. I'll until after I put another few hundred rounds through it before I declare it reliable.

My main problem has been finding spare magazines. It came with a couple, but I wanted a couple more. There were several ZDA magazines on gunbroker that I should have bought by hitting the Buy Now button. Live and learn.

I called up EAA to see if they had EZ 9 magazines (which apparently will fit a ZDA), but they are out of stock. So that's likely where you may have problems, spare mags.

One thing that differentiates the ZDA/Skorpion from all other 9 mm is that the magazines have a spring on the follower that pops through a hole in the side of the magazine. When you have one round in the chamber and 3 left in the mag, the spring contacts a little pin in the butt that pokes you in the hand to tell you that you are running low. Those magazines are a bear to find.

FYI.. the EZ 9 and ZDA take Beretta 92 mags with a small mod.

Currently there are some CZ99 mags listed on GB for $18 each..

Just bought the EZ9.. should be here soon.. pending the snow..

Talk about resurrecting an old thread. Lol.

You'll have to post up a range report. I was looking at getting one of these as a range only toy that my mom can use. She's a huge fan of the 9mm Sig but I can't justify spending that kind of money on an actual Sig that won't get much use.

    Warpt762..

It should be in-hand by next Monday hopefully..

I have 350 rounds of ammo coming in also this week for it.

I will try and get out to the range and report back on it.

So far I read up on it..

Hence the Beretta 92 mags and also compatible with MOST/SOME XD holsters..

The trigger pull is reported 5 lbs or so in SA mode and just over 13 lbs in DA..

The decocker is the feature I wanted.. (since no safety).. I was looking at the Arcus 98DAC and decided to get this instead.. (no decocker or safety)..

I used to have a Sig 228 so I will try to relate the differences as best as I can remember them..

I have shot a couple of them and they both were very good, to me. They have a heck of a good price, as well. The Serbs are not known for building poor firearms.

Is the EZ-9 the P226 clone where the slide lock lever doubles as a decocker if ridden all the way to the bottom of its arc?

If so, I could have sworn I read good initial reviews on it a couple years back...

Watching for updates to this thread, just out of curiosity.

    Regards,

    Bones

I don't know about it being the sig clone, but the answer to the other part of your question is yes.

It is a Sig clone. Well a clone as much as the PT92 is a Beretta M92 clone.
