    Default 10/22 Redux

    Hope you likee.

    What I did.
    1. Took original Ruger "Plain Jane" stock.
    2. Cut stock at barrel band.
    3. Sanded stock's finish but let some original finish remain.
    4. Floated barrel up to 1.5 inches from receiver. Enough to let a business card slide under barrel.
    5. Paperbedded receiver to eliminate receiver movement.
    6. Stained stock with Green waterbased stain mix, Blackened front chop area. clearcoated.

The combination of original stain and new added green gives a very nice camo look.

Power Custom Rail, Burris 3X9 glass, Low "Z" rings, ARMS #5 multibase, and finished it off with a handmade leather cheekpiece made by me.

Nope... just a toy I got at an antiques show in Reno for $135 minus scope. Just wanted to spruce it up.

    Well you done good GrassHopper
    You've given me a thought, I have
    Remington Spedmaster I owned
for close to 30 years & the stock
    is a little scratched up/ Maybe I'll
    follow suit & give it a make-over.

Nobody has asked THE question... How does it shoot? I would think that bedding the receiver and floating the barrel would help it greatly.

The cut off fore end in all honesty looks a bit unusual, not bad, just unusual. Maybe because it isn't rounded at all. But form is secondary to function, so if it shoots well, that's all that really matters.
