cary two guns on job
I was wondering i have my 235 and to my understanding is they do not require qualifying with weapon you are going to use on job, so it it legal to carry a back up weapon like on an ankle?

Legally, you can carry as many as you want. Your employer may have other policies though.
Personally, I always stay with the caliber I qualified with."Having a gun and thinking you are armed is like having a piano and thinking you are a musician" Col. Jeff Cooper (U.S.M.C. Ret.)

Re: cary two guns on job
I was looking into ACT235 cert for a part time retirement job.
I was under the impression you could only carry on the job what (caliber?) you qualified with.
I have been wrong so many times in my life, I can't count them so perhaps go to a ACT 235 website or training class site for specifics.

As Dave said, it may be employer dictated.

Re: cary two guns on job
Back when I got my 235, probably 10 years ago now, I was told to carry what I qualified with. In my case a P229 in .40. I've heard it both ways though. I always carried a SW642 though, as a backup. Never hurts to be as safe and prepared as possible.

Re: cary two guns on job
I am sure that several departments do permit the carry of a "Back-Up"
piece, however they do require a course of qualification for "liability"
purposes. Years ago, it was written into the firearms policy of my department
that any revolver/pistol carried in the line of duty or off, that a qualification
record was maintained by the department.FUNDAMENTALS

Re: cary two guns on job
Since you are referring to Act 235, I believe that the only firearm you
are permitted to carry, is the weapon you qualified with at the time
you took your certification. If your company supplies your firearm the
same restriction applies.FUNDAMENTALS

Howdy Ryan, and welcome to the forum.
Review the Act 235 rules, nothing in there about that you have to carry any particular weapon.
IANAL, but is it legal, yep, looks like it, but is it permitted by your employer, ???
