Shotgun Reloading
Just ran into a deal on a PW 800B, shotgun reloader.
This is an old press in great shape. I was reading the book from 1977, and comparing it to the current PW presses. Looks like new presses use a taper crimp. They say it feeds better.
Do any of you know how to eyeball the difference between the 2 types? Reason I'm asking is because they make an upgrade for the press, to convert to a taper crimp. I purchased this from a widow, and no questions could be answered.
I'm not sure if this press was once upgraded.
Thanks,
JB

Re: Shotgun Reloading
Wow...I've been reloading shotshells for over 20 years and have never heard of a taper crimp for shotshells. How much does the upgrade cost?
PWs are great machines..one thing to look for though: They had one at a club I used to belong to & the owner told me that they used a ring-type sizer (as opposed to a collet type sizer on a MEC Grabber). He would NOT use hulls that had a steel head, or a brass plated steel head...only all brass heads. Steel heads would scratch the sizing ring. There are three kinds of people in this world....them what's good at math and them what ain't.
