Gotcha! 9,016 ticketed in NYC cell phone blitz
March 13, 2009
NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police issued a whopping 9,016 tickets during a 24-hour crackdown on phoning-while-driving.
Department spokesman Paul Browne says that compares to 500 on a typical day.
The ticket blitz ended Friday. But the law is still the law.
Get caught driving while using a hand held phone and you could be fined $120.
The first vehicles normally on the scene of a crime are ambulances and police cruisers. If you are armed you have a chance to decide who gets transported in which vehicle, if you are not armed then that decision is made for you.
Be prepared, because someone else already is and no one knows their intent except them.

How did the violent crime rate on that day and the following days compare to previous days?
For as much contempt as I have for idiots who talk on cell phones while driving, I have even more contempt for abuses of police power to fund overspending.Safety is a good tool for tyrants; no one can be against safety.

This was a great idea to tie up police power in a big city like NY for cell phone tickets.I'm sure glad the police where out stopping those phone calls instead of patroling the streets while people were being rapped, robbed, mugged and killed, great job A-Holes
P.S. Bloomberg is a failure.

I don't get it... I mean, it seems perfectly fine to criminalize activities in order to tell tell people how to walk, talk, act and breath in order to steal from the ambitious and fund the lazy.
