Default This can't be good at all. SCotUS opening soon

    AP By MELISSA TRUJILLO

BOSTON (AP) - March 13, 2009 -- Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg told law students there could be an opening on the Supreme Court soon but didn't hint at who might be leaving.

Ginsburg spoke Friday at New England Law's annual "Law Day."

In a question-and-answer session, she said the nine justices only take pictures together when a new member is added. She said: "We haven't had any of those for some time, but surely we will soon."

She declined to take questions from reporters at the event.

The 75-year-old justice had surgery last month for pancreatic cancer but returned to the bench without missing a day of work. She said advice from fellow cancer survivor Sandra Day O'Connor on when to schedule chemotherapy has helped her to keep up with the court's pace.

We knew it was coming. At least one seat will be open in four years.

    Elections have consequences.

Remember that the next time a Heller-type case comes up.

none of the 5 justices who voted correctly on the heller case are likely to leave in the next 4 years unless one has some unforseen health issues.

obama will most likely only be able to replace one of the 4 justices who voted incorrectly, so it will be a wash for now...though that justice will prolly be younger and we will be stuck with him/her for awhile.

Remember that Congress (Senate) has to approve a SCOTUS selection.
IF this comes about, we must ensure the appointee is on the side of freedom.

I'll tell you guys right off the bat....I could care less about a Justice's thoughts on abortion, as long as he or she is pro-gun rights.

You are so right. It's rather unsettling how close the vote actually was.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

It's treasonous in my personal opinion. Every one of them knows better.
