bought a russian ak today but mags dont fit?

i got a new russian model ak today. 7.62x39 , gun is nice but the two 40rd mags they gave me dont fit. they dont lock on and i modded one to lock on but the bullets wont feed still . i going back tommoro to see whats up. anyone have any idea what mags are supposed to fit the russian ak?

only russian gun in the USA is saiga. If this is it they take there own type of mag. regular AK mags wont fit

you can make a saiga to accept regular AK mags. I think its just a piece of steel that fits right under the chamber. Look around online for SAIGA conversions or ask someone who has done conversions what part you need and how to install it. IIRC its really easy.

Bullet guide is what you need. You may need to modify the mag catch also. There are Saiga web forums, but I only have the URL for the shotgun site.
