IE 6.x
Does anyone know how to go back "to" Internet Explorer 6.x "from" Internet Explorer 7.x?
What a P.O.S.
I can't stand this web browser. After the last "security update" I can't change my home page and the Tools menu option to delete temp files, etc. isn't functional to name a few.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!

CURSE YOU 7.0!!!!.
Tony, you can try uninstalling and going to HERE to get rid of that garbage. I kinda got used to it and am starting to like it."We shoot to stop. ... Unfortunately, death can be a byproduct."

Re: IE 6.x
You can try going back to IE 6.0, but for my money I would just go for Firefox.
It's free, open source, and many regard it as the best browser for the PC.

Re: IE 6.x
I've heard of 'updates' that were really downgrades (<cough>iTunes</cough>), but are you sure that this is a result of a legitimate update, and not a virus or third-party crapware?
Yes, Firefox beats IE any day of the week. Hopefully you don't need to use any fascistic website that only works with IE.

To hell with IE6 -- go to Firefox. It's better than 6, and you don't feel like you're cutting a deal with the Redmond mafia when you use it.... I think it more or less does everything IE7 does.

EDIT: Sorry, Joe, didn't see you'd already suggested it!Last edited by Johannes_Paulsen; April 20th, 2007 at 09:59 AM.

Re: IE 6.x
IE 7.0 was a sad attempt at modeling some of the features firefox has. Firefox is much better than IE 6 or 7. Luckily my desktop blew up so I don't have IE 7 anymore.

Re: IE 6.x
First of all, IE6 is a really really insecure and buggy browser. IE7 is sucky but much more secure. I strongly urge Firefox 2.0. It's your PC and your call on what to use. With that said...
Ok, to address your problem first, question later. you can delete cookies, temp files, etc, etc and add multiple homepages.
Select Tools > Internet Options > General tab
you can change your homepage here, also, you can press return/enter to a new line and add another (second) homepage.
Also on the General tab > Browsing History.
Click the 'Delete' button, it will open a window that lets you delete temp files, cookies, history, form data, and passwords. or all of the above.
Now, if for some reason you changed the display and the 'Tools" menu isn't there. Check to see if you see a little gear-like looking thing. That's the Tools menu.
If the above fails and you want to delete your temp inet files. Go to
My Computer > Documents and Settings > YOURusername > Local Settings > Temporary Internet Files.
If you don't see this, you may not be displaying hidden files. Go to
Tools > Folder Options > View > Hidden Files and Folders and select 'Show hidden files" and refresh the window.
Now, if you still want to revert back to IE6 WARNING: While the following method has worked for me numerous times, I can't guarantee it will work for you.
Start > Control Panel > Add/Remove Programs
Click 'Add/Remove Windows Programs' from the left pane.
A window will popup and you can deselect Internet Explorer and click next.
FYI: If you have changed the display settings for the State Menu. The Control Panel may be under Start > Settings > Control Panel
Tada!
Hope this helps. Feel free to hit me up if you have questions or trouble."Because I'm an American." - MtnJack

Re: IE 6.x
Use FireFox for all your surfing needs.
Keep IE around just for windows update, or to check out local.live.==============

+1000 on all the calls to move to firefox. I've had zero problems since I moved from IE to firefox. I liked it so much at home that I've installed it on my work computer and my laptop as well as my desktop.
