Remember when the Big Three CEOs got beaten up for flying in private jets to DC?
You gotta listen to this Youtube clip closely as the reporter describes the Not My President's itinerary:
It's 153 freakin' miles by car!Last edited by King 5.45; March 9th, 2009 at 11:41 AM.

The hypocracy of this president is enough to make me puke. He says that he is going to cut down cost yadda yadda. He should have just done one of his youtube addresses or whatever instead of blowing all the cash to pay for the extra law enforcement, jet fuel and other costs. There is no need to do that for 25 jobs. what a joke.

In order for the President to drive, standard Secret service policy is to block off the highway and off/on ramps and side roads that are next to the motorcade.
They also have local law enforcement to escort during the trip.
Also, Marine one doesn't have anti-missile avoidance systems that Air Force 1 has.. One of the reasons they don't use it for long trips.
So. It's a huge PITA for a motorcade to go anything over 20-30 miles..
You wanna Block off I95 during Rush Hour? Or 495 around the beltway? That place is gridlock at 3am..

Yeah and it would be cheaper if he flew commercial in coach overseas
You guys have really gone nuts. The good news for the other side is that the anti O rants have become so silly that any serious criticisms can now be easily dismissed as just another lunatic rant. Well done indeed.

Let's put it this way... it only takes a couple hours to get from the Philly area to Williamsburg in a Cessna Skyhawk, a small four place prop plane.
It's only 98 miles from DC to Williamsburg. Taking the 747 was a MASSIVE waste of money. What he should have taken was Marine One. But that's not as showy, I reckon, and beside it's our money he's wasting, not his."Never give up, never surrender!" Commander Peter Quincy Taggart
