Shock setting off pistol rounds
If you are carrying and say you have a medical emergency (heart attach or whatever) and you need to be shocked with one of those defibrillators, will the shock be enough to set off any of the rounds in your pistol?

The defibrillator sends the electrical pulse through your chest from one paddle to the other. Electricity always takes the path of least resistance and the paddles are on top and side of your chest, should not be anywhere near your gun. Also, the people that would be doing the shock would insure that there is nothing metallic around the paddles.

Exactly, the defibrillator will NOT set off your rounds, however using live ammo in your car's fuse box very well might

It may be an urban legend, but I read some place about a guy out wood chuck hunting, and blew a old stile car fuse. and put a 22 shell in to get him home, the story goes the shell over heated and hit him in the leg, sound like it could be true but who knows

See Myth Busters...they were able to replicate the Round going off when used in the car (truck i believe) Originally Posted by hornady
See other Mythbusters episodes for damage done by a round not in a barrel...my recollection is that there was not much damamge...but don't try it at home.

yeah the only way i could see it going off would be if the defribulators pulsed across the bullet or a long period and heated it up and made it go off
