    Default PA Law question

My employer has a policy that any weapon found on the property, even in a locked vehicle is grounds for immediate termination. This is regardless of whether a person has a CCW or not. My question is this legal in PA? I personally wouldn't keep any in my vehicle anyway, but was wondering if this policy broke any PA laws.

Yes, it is their property, they make the rules.

I work for an employer with a similar policy, and figure that I CHOSE to work for them, so I have CHOSEN to abide by their policy. If I had no choice in the matter then the argument could be made my rights were being violated.

Cool, thats all I wanted to know. I thought there was a case in PA or some other state where some guys went to work after hunting and were fired because their rifles were still in their vehicles, and they were suing the employer.

Unless it is discrimination-related, you can be hired and fired in PA by a private employer at any time for any reason.

PA ia a right to work state but conversely it is a hire or fire at will state as well.

there might be in some other state...different states have very different laws when it comes to labor relations.

I think he's talking about Plona VS UPS in Ohio, it sounds like a similar situation (guns in cars in a public-access parking lot), though not the same.

Why in the world would anybody allow an employer to search their private vehicle?

I probably wouldn't unless they had the police show up with a warrant. However I can be fired for refusing since as stated above my employer can fire me at any time and for any reason.
