Re: who makes most compact 9mm in 1911?
I think it comes down to the "new" Detonics tiny 1911 or a Springfield. Sorry, cant think of the models right now.

I havent heard any good reviews on the Springfield EMP. Seems they dont run.
you want to go small, 1911, and 9mm ?

Re: who makes most compact 9mm in 1911?
Small 1911's on a whole were and some times still arent very reliable, the Springfield is hit or miss and the new Detonic's i cant comment on, not sure if Kimber makes one, but they are not a company i would reccomend any way. if you wnted a small 9mm i would look toward the STI or one of the custom guys, Like Wilson or one of the others. Like i said most small 1911 9mm dont run well, not even small 1911 45acp's run that great.
I have an officers acp that i got lucky with that runs great with no work but there are horror stories about the amount of money one must spend to get some of these to even fire a full magazine with out a failure.

I agree. I haven't heard of good review from end user, although gun writer raves on them. Seems that they work okay with ball ammo, but not liking HP ammo.

I tends to take those rivew by published gunmagazine with grain of salt..
Must admit, however, EMP is sharp looking, well put together pistol IMO.
STI do make great gun. And about same street price as EMP. And I've heard of many great reviews..Audemus jura nostra defendere

Re: who makes most compact 9mm in 1911?
I've heard lots of bad things about the EMP online, but everyone that I know that's had a chance to shoot them or own them raved over them. I've owned a Detonics (though it was in 45) and it was a bear of a gun to control. One thing for sure is that Springfield does have a good warranty so if you would get one with problems, they will make it right.

Haven't heard to much success either with a compact 9mm 1911. Seem they all have issues with running right.
as 1911shooter said, even the compact .45 1911's have issues a lot of the time.Honesta Mors Turpi Vita Potior ~ 3%

The Springfield EMP looks like a very nice concealable 1911 9mm.

And if you are looking for something smaller.
Not a 9mm, but it is the most compact 1911 style I have seen.
It is .380, not a true 9mm luger.
