Has anyone heard when the Taurus PT 809 will hit the shelves?

Re: Taurus PT 809
The only thing I could find for a release date was on the taurususa.com website. "Available 3rd Qtr." under status. Here is a page to drool on, they should update the status as it gets closer. It sounds like a lot of people are anxious!

Re: Taurus PT 809
Thanks for checking in. It was supposed to be 3rd then 4th qtr of 2008. I heard they (Taurus) were ramping up their revolver line due to back orders, wonder if that is what is delaying the 800 series?

Re: Taurus PT 809
I'm quite the fan of Taurus revolvers and carry one frequently.
However, I've never been a big fan of their semi-autos (Glock guy here)...but this is one I think I'll take a look at when it's been released. That "two strike" capability sounds intriguing.Well, pushed 60 too hard so now I am the big SIX-OH. Now I can be a real pain in the ass! And, who says growin' old isn't fun!!

I just mine in the other day. It is as big as my Sig 220. The trigger is a bit heavy, but it has yet to be broken in. The frame looks just like the 24/7 Pro. It fits nicely in my hand an is well balanced. Very easy to field-strip. Very heavy barrel. The decocker is a very nice feature. I'll give a range report tomorow.

Re: Taurus PT 809
Not a bad pistol. No malfunctios what so ever. Like most guns, this gun probably needs about 2000 rounds before it will be predictable. The grouping was poor, but seemed to be getting tighter as the rounds increased. Still at 15 yds most all hits were center-mass. I had a few bad fliers. Might have been my getting used to the trigger. But by no means would I have wanted to be a zombie today. I would like to put a slip-on grip and a new front sight on the gun.

Re: Taurus PT 809
I am kind of surprised there is only one thread on this whole site about the 809.

Re: Taurus PT 809
I guess it's not a very popular pistol. I like mine. Too large to carry in most cases. My kid (14) runs that gun like a madman. I've lost a few bets against him at the range. Make sure to use a very good lube on it. Like many polymer pistols there isn't much frame for the slide to ride on. I use FP-10. It is an obvious improvement over Gun Butter. Well, that's my observation.
