    Default "Report post" button

When you click this, the note below the message box reads:

"This is ONLY to be used to report spam, advertising messages, and problematic (harassment, fighting, or rude) posts".

It's pretty clear...but can it be used to report duplicate posts? I've seen dupes many times and a mod will catch it eventually. Like now as I write, there is a dupe about a Professor and a student's presentation that has not been caught yet.

What is the proper way to report dupe posts?

    Thanks.

I know I'm not a mod, but I've been told by a couple of our esteemed moderators that you can use the Report Post button to tell them about dup threads as well as threads that need to be moved to the proper forum.

If that is so, they should change that note on there. I didn't want to use it to report a dupe and then get an infraction for "mis-use" or something Oh the shame of it!

Hopefully a mod can post it here so we have it in writing

I don't speak for the admins, but personally, I don't mind so long as it doesn't become a "hobby".
(IOW, no need to go overboard on reporting stuff)

It's helpful to have a set of eyes that catch things when the mods are not able to see them.

All I ask is that when reporting SPAM, that you post in the spam thread that it's been reported. A simple "SPAM. Reported." helps by letting other members know that it's already been reported so they don't need to do the same.(And we don't get 6 notices for the same thing)

That message that pops up is one set by vBulletin, I might be able to edit it.

Use the report post button to report posts that you think are problematic, we'll figure out whether or not we agree.
