Tried and True "What do you carry?" thread
Hello All!
Been wondering lately what everyone here chooses as their CCW.
As for me, I am a die-hard (no pun intended) Beretta fan. I love all variations of the 92/96 platform and have carried a M9 while serving in USCG as well as a 92FS when I was LEO here in York. I then carried my 92FS Compact L type M for many years in a Bianci short holster. Love that gun and holster combo.
Lately I have been wanting to go to something a bit lighter and easier to conceal so I did my research and lots of reading and decided on something in
357sig. I then purchased my Glock 33 subcompact. It is easy to conceal, very light, very reliable and in the caliber that I really like. I carry in a Fobus Paddle holster and it is quite comfortable and I am looking forward to this summer and seeing how this combo works out while wearing shorts, etc.
Bullet of choice is Speer Gold Dot 125grain JHP. Had a great opportunity to do lots of balistic testing with various JHP's and the Speer GD definitly won out with great expansion and no overpenetration.
The only 'extra's I have on the Glock 33 are a Pearce +1 grip magazine extention which makes the capacity 10+1. I also added a Glock 'butt plug' just to keep all the fuzzies and crap out of the open area on the back of the Glock grip. (Anyone know why Glock decided to have this design 'flaw'?)
Anyway......what does everyone else carry and why?

1911.
My reason is that it is the handgun with which I have the most experience and familiarity and it is the autoloader I shoot better than any others I own or have owned.

Re: Tried and True "What do you carry?" thread
i carry a glock 17 unless i am going to be in the woods...then i carry a glock 20.
ETA: missed the why part of the question:
i carry a full sized gun because i don't have any trouble concealing one...and don't find it at all uncomfortable. i carry a glock because i like the fact that they are very reliable, nearly indestructable (including they just plain don't rust), and have no external safeties. i carry a 9mm most of the time because that's what i practice with since it is cheap to shoot. also, i can get faster and more accurate follow-up shots with a 9mm. and with modern HP ammo, 9mm is quite adequate for stopping bad guys. in the woods, though, i carry 10mm FMJ since i don't feel comfortable with anything less for stopping bad black bears (if i lived in grizzly country i would prolly not even feel comfortable with the 10mm).Last edited by LittleRedToyota; April 17th, 2007 at 07:25 PM.

And I will also throw in there that my wife carries a Kel-Tec P-11 because it is light and easy to put in her purse or in the console of her car and she shoots it very well. She does wish that it had the grip extention on it but the cost of them has been unreasonable lately ($20+ on ebay)

Find this set up in the front pocket more often than anthing else. WHY?? It is just so bloody easy to carry and conceal. Once I get a good rig for concealing the XD, I think it may go with me a bit more often. But this is hard to beat for concealment and ease of use. ( I have carried it in a bathing suit pocket with tevas and no shirt. Mesh pockets worried me, but it worked)The American Revolution would never have happened with gun control....
The day they want my guns, they'll have to bring theirs!!!Proud to be One of the 3%

Glock 19 with XS Big Dot Sights in a FIST #20 IWB
Glock 26 with XS Big Dot Sights in a Galco Ankle Glove
Why? Reliability. Hundreds of thousands of rounds with my Glock platforms and not one malf. I've shot them more than any other gun I've ever owned.
And all this crap because I'm the original mall ninja.
