Default IDPA Division for KAHR CW45 ?

Kahr CW45 ( nearly identical to P45 ) is a single stack 6+1 .45ACP pistol. It has a 3.6 inch barrel and full length grip.

Which division would be best in IDPA ? CCP is for .45cal, max 8 round magazine, or SSP, or what ??

I'd go with CDP. SSP has a division capacity of 10 rounds in the magazine, with you only being able to load 6, you'll be at a bigger disadvantage than in CDP with it's 8 round max for the magazine.

I'm assuming it meets the CDP criteria

Handguns permitted for use in this division must:
    A. Be semi-automatic.
    B. Be .45 ACP caliber.
    C. Have a maximum unloaded weight of 41 oz., including an
    empty magazine.
    D. Fit in the IDPA gun test box measuring 8 3⁄4” x 6” x 1 5/8”
    with an empty magazine inserted.
    E. Be loaded to the division capacity of eight (8) rounds in the
magazine plus one (1) round in the chamber. Should division
capacity not be achievable because of lower magazine
capacity, load should be to maximum mechanical capacity of
magazine plus one (1) round in the chamber.

I think I would shoot CDP as well. Maybe try to find an 8 rd. mag. I'm not familier with the gun so I don't know if that is even possible, but I agree with IV Warrior about the disadvantages. Good luck.......

I'm waiting for a Kahr CW9 to arrive at my local gun shop. I plan on trying it out at a couple shoots this summer. Got to find a holster and magazine carriers for it.

    Should be interesting.

Kahr mags interchange, you can get the 7rd. mags for your CW45. I tried out my PM45 last summer with them, worked fine.

    CDP would be best.

EIther way.....kind of a disadvantage. In CDP you run against the 5" 1911s.

In SSP you run against the 5" Glocks with downloaded ammo.........

Thank you all for your responses. I have been to a couple IDPA local club shoots as an observer and have done the safety walk through but I have yet to take the plunge and do a course myself. Winter kind of intervened and made it too cold for me to go out and shoot, but I see they just had a 'Penguin Shoot' at my local club, Factoryville Sportsman's.

I will give CDP a tryout. Soon. Thanks folks !!

RobW- Did you use your PM45 in an IDPA shoot ?

MTBSKI- My Desantis belt-slide holster ( style 86 ) and double mag carrier fit and wear quite well.

Used it once, just for fun. With 5.4gr Bullseye / 185JHP's it was a blast to shoot!
