    Question Firearm purchase in MD

Would a shop in Md be able to do a PICS check if I were to purchase from him? Or would I have to wait 7-10 days like a MD resident does?

By federal law, all commercial transfers require a NICS call, or if the state elected to do its own via POCS(Point Of Contact State) a local check.

If its a long gun, you'd have to do whatever MD law requires - NICS/POCS check and any waiting period if you want to take possession directly from the FFL in MD. Or you can have him send it to a FFL in PA to complete the 4473 and have a PICS/NICS done here.

If its a handgun, you'll pay him, then you'll need him to send it to a FFL in PA to do the 4473, PICS/NICS check, and PSP form.

PICS is for use by PA FFL's and Sheriffs only. FFL's and LEO's in other states use whatever system they have or default to the NICS.

So, in short, no. gotcha--thanks. Not really worth the hassle to me if I can't walk out the door the same day like here in PA.
